Epsom Salt Bath
EPSOM SALTS BATH – WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
Epsom salts contains magnesium, which promotes the release of lactic acid from muscle tissue. An Epsom salt bath can be helpful anytime you are suffering from aches and muscle strain. It is also an excellent therapy on the evening following your massage, as it helps to clear out released lactic acid. This helps to reduce any soreness following the massage treatment of a particularly tight area. The heat absorbed from the water also encourages new blood flow to the muscle tissue.
Instructions for taking an Epsom Salts Bath,
Pour 2 maybe 3 cups of salt in a full bath, the temperature of which is as hot as you can tolerate. You should soak for 15 to 20 minutes. To replace the fluid you lose as you perspire, keep a cup of luke warm water with you and sip it during your bath If
you are up to it, drink as much as 3 cups, at least following the bath. If you like, you may also wring a cold towel and wrap it around your neck and or forehead. As with any hot bath, make sure you get out of the tub slowly and carefully. Epsom salts is safe for whirl tubs.
Cautionary note;
If you have diagnosed heart trouble or high blood pressure or are prone to fainting under hot conditions, you should moderate the water temperature and avoid submersing your body above heart level. You should use a cold towel around your neck or forehead. If you have any concerns about whether or not a hot tub will affect you adversely, please consult with your medical doctor.
